After 40 days of care at the ARCHELON Sea Turtle Rescue Center, a loggerhead turtle named Rachel was released back into the wild at the small bay Katafigi in the Saronic Gulf (November 11th 2021). Rachel was found on Kefalonia island in late August with her front flippers entangled and injured in fishing line. The release was attended by N.E.C.C.A’s head of the 1st Directorate for the Management of Protected Areas, Dr. Dionysia Hatzilakou, along with Archelon’s Center Manager, Mr. Dimitris Fytilis, other collaborators and volunteers.
