N.E.C.C.A. personnel Elena Baziotis and Apostolos Karagiannakos participated in the 2nd Technical Workshop of the Mediterranean Posidonia Network (MPN) which took place in Formentera (Balearic Islands, Spain) on 21–24 September 2021. The workshop was organized by the Ministry of the Environment and Territory and the French Biodiversity Office (OFB), with the collaboration of the Insular Council of Formentera and the collaboration of the French LIFE Marha Project, funded by the European Commission. Its main objectives were to organize exchanges on the MPN Roadmap and meet with stakeholders and authorities from the Island of Formentera and Balearic Islands to get feedback on their experience on Posidonia surveillance, eco-mooring and many other strategic measures implemented in over more than 10 years.
N.E.C.C.A will utilize the workshop outcomes for action planning in Greece regarding:
- Improved monitoring of Poseidonia meadows and their pressures
- Regulation and management of ecological moorings
- Raising public awareness
