LIFE EL BIOS – hELlenic BIOdiversity Information System: An innovative tool for biodiversity conservation

The aim of the project “LIFE EL BIOS – hELlenic BIOdiversity Information System: An innovative tool for biodiversity conservation (LIFE20 GIE / GR / 001317)” is to create a national biodiversity database, in the form of a free access geoportal, which will combine the most important Greek biodiversity databases that are currently disconnected from eachother. This information will then be combined with remote sensing data and models, data derived from wireless field sensors and field sampling data in pilot sites of the Natura 2000 Network. The end result will be a tool which will be used by N.E.C.C.A and will facilitate not only the storage and synthesis of data on biodiversity, but also the exchange of information and will highlight important funding directions. The project brings together 7 partners led by the Green Fund and will be implemented between October 2021 – March 2025. The total budget for N.E.C.C.A amounts to € 322,679.00 euros, of which € 64,536.00 are national participation funds.
